If you hold the MPL licence and are interested in working for any airline, you can extend your privileges to those of CPL with MEIR (multi-pilot or single-pilot as required) through the following 3-step process. If you just want to add PPL privileges to fly for fun, then no issue in stopping after the first step below.
- Obtain PPL privileges: differences training to our two-seaters (DA20-C1 or C152), local procedures and general prepping for the PPL skill test. We’ll make sure you fulfil the formal Part-FCL requirements (e.g. solo hours) and are ready to pass the skill test on a Single-Engine Piston (SEP) aircraft like the DA20-C1 or 152.
- Build up PIC(US) hours to a total of 70 h on the above aircraft. If you prefer to use an IFR-equipped 4-seater for this purpose, get differences training to the DA40.
- Take the 15-hour (visual) CPL course, during which we’ll use the DA42 for 5 h as the complex aircraft. Then take the a combined CPL and MEIR skill test on the same DA42.
The price in detail depends on your prior PIC(US) hours, the location where you want to train, and if you want to use the more modern Diamond SEP aircraft or the more affordable C152 type of aircraft in steps 1&2, but as a rough budgetary estimate 20k€ (Finland, incl. 24% VAT) or 17k€ (Denmark, free of VAT) is usually not far off.
